Sabrina Puig, an eight year old girl, hails from Mexico City. The girl, hit by a rare medical condition has only but half a heart. But, that did not stop her from approaching Pope Francis, when he passed by her city.
The crowds were swarming, as the Holy Father passed by. Sabrina and her mother, Karla Robles, were well behind the crowd, and never expected to get close to the Holy Father. When the Pope left the nunciature of the city, there was a commotion, which gave Sabrina an impetus. She ran toward the Pope, passing through the security fence outside of the apostolic nunciature. In an instance, she was near Pope Francis. The little girl, in ecstasy, hugged the Pope tightly.
Then she began to shout in limitless joy: “I hugged him! I hugged him!” Sabrina is suffering from a disease called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a disability in which one side of the heart does not develop. She has had four operations and depends on the intervention of doctors to survive.
