Church in Ukraine is not going to abide by the state’s move to ammend the constitution in favour of same sex marriage. In a letter addressed to the Ukrainian president, the Church leaders in Ukraine condemned the plan, arguing that the constitutional amendment would ‘seriously threaten’ family life. The letter was issued by All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organisations, a group of 19 churches and faiths including Catholics and Orthodox.
“These provisions threaten to plunge the Ukrainian state into the abyss of immorality and sin, to destroy the family as the basic social institution and popularize relationships between persons of the same sex which are unnatural for human beings”, the council said.
