The Archbishop Fisichella said in the homily that in the Holy Year “the Lord calls on us to deny ourselves, take up the cross, and follow Jesus – as did Saint Pio and Saint Leopoldo.”

The relics of the two saints were brought to St Peter’s Basilica for a week as part of the celebrations for the Jubilee of Mercy. After the Thursday morning Mass, the mortal remains of Padre Pio was taken back to San Giovanni Rotondo and Saint Leopoldo’s was returned to his resting place in Padua.
