“The Church advocates for decent work at a living wage” Archbishop Wenski

labour day“Sufficient decent work that honors dignity and families is the Catholic way”, said Archbishop Wenski, who chairs the U.S. bishops’ domestic justice and human development committee. The Archbishop was delivering the Labor Day message on behalf of U.S. bishops.

The need for decent work with a standard wage that maintains the family was the theme of U.S. bishop’s 2015 Labor Day message. “By standard wage we demand that workers who struggles to provide hope for their family are helped out and those young workers who wish to have families of their own are given hope,” adds Archbishop Wenski.

The Archbishop concluded his message by citing Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical, ‘Laudato Si’. The encyclical describes work as “a necessity part of the meaning of life on this earth, a path to growth, human development and personal fulfillment.”.
