Priest freed in Syria after second abduction

Fr_Aziz_Courtesy_of_the_Franciscan_Custody_of_the_Holy_Land_CNAAn Iraqi Franciscan priest, who had been kidnapped by a group of unknown jihadist militants in Syria for the second time had been released by the captors.

The release of Fr Dhiya Aziz, had been confirmed by the Custody of the Holy Land, the Franciscan authority of the Holy Land, in a statement released by them.

It was on December 23 that Fr Dhiya Aziz was abducted from Lattakia, a city in Syria, while he was returning to his parish in Idlib. Fr. Aziz, 41, is currently in Damascus and is the parish priest at Yacubiyeh, a village in Syria’s Idlib province.
