Pope Francis on Wednesday met with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Haydar al-Abadi. The meeting was held in the studio of the Paul VI Audience Hall. After meeting the Pope, the Prime Minister met the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin,
The Holy See Press stated that the meeting was cordial and they discussed about good state of bilateral relations between Iraq and the Holy See, the life of Church in the country and the condition of Christians and religious and ethnic minorities living in Iraq. They had given special interest in discussing about the importance of protecting their rights.
Their discussion also deviated to the ongoing reconciliation process between various social components of the country and also the national and regional humanitarian situations.
