Pope Francis lands in Mexico

635909124082531070--01W4241Pope Francis had a warm welcome in the land of Mexico. He touched the Benito Juarez Mexico City airport at 7:30 p. m. local Mexico time.

The Pope was received by the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto and his wife Angelica Rivera. The enthusiastic Mexican crowd cheered by saying, “Pope Francis, brother, you’re already Mexican!”

A group of children brought flowers and a box containing soil from each of the Mexican states. They had dedicated a folklore ballet and a song titled, “Mexico se pinta de luz” for the Holy Father.

Pope greeted and blessed the children who sang for the Pope. He also thanked the artists who sang the welcome song for him. The Holy Father even took special attention in blessing a sick child too. Later he toured through the streets of Mexico City in the pope-mobile to the Apostolic Nunciature.
