They had not received an official declaration on the release of the abducted Indian priest in Yemen, said Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) spokesperson Fr. Gyanprakash Topno. His comments came based on the report by a German newspaper, Bulid. The newspaper reported quoting Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia, Bishop Paul Hinder OFM Cap, that Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil would be released soon.
The Indian Foreign ministry had intervened at the international level for the release of the Catholic priest. It was in March that the priest was abducted by the terrorists while attacking a retirement home run by the Missionaries of Charity. 16 people including four nuns were killed in the attack.
