As part of a planned move to spread peace in Kenya, The Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa had instituted a Peace Caravan mobilization. The caravan titled, “Kenya Pamoja for peace pwani,” would start its journey from 23 November 2015 and as expected, would terminate on the day of welcoming Pope Francis in Nairobi. The caravan would cover a distance of 441 kilometers.
The Peace Caravan was comprised of 69 buses. Among 69; 16 buses carry youth journeying with the caravan and the rest 53 with pilgrims from different parishes of Mombasa to Nairobi who might gather in Nairobi to receive the Pope.
The caravan travels by spreading the messages of peace and understanding among Kenyans. Youth were the main target of the programme. Through youth mobilization and prayer the initiative might create public awareness in the Kenyan costal region which was wounded by the attack from extremist groups.
