We have exorcisms, but may not have heard of many sky exorcisms. In an Italian town named Castellammare di Stabia, a priest literally performed an exorcism from the sky. The aerial exorcism, performed in helicopter, was in response to a spree of church-targeted thefts and vandalism in the area.
The priest said that he performed the exorcism because the local prayer group solicited him to do so. “If Satan exists, he has taken control of Castellammare di Stabia,” the group said in a statement. “There was nothing left but to try the exorcist.”
The seaside town, of late, had been seriously affected by violence and organized crime besides repeated theft from churches, desecration of graves, crosses being turned upside down and statues of Mary being tossed over cliffs. With such sacrilegious activities abounding, the local people came to the conclusion that evil power is working in the area. They believe that by this act of exorcism, a revival of devotion will take place in their town.
