Cardinal George Pell said that he won’t resign unless Pope Francis asked him to do so. In an interview given to the media persons after his four days of testimony before an Australian royal commission on sexual abuse, the Cardinal told, “No, I wouldn’t resign. That would be taken as an admission of guilt.”
“I mean, if the Holy Father asked me too, I’d point this out, but I’d do whatever he wanted,” he added.
Cardinal Pell who now serves as the prefect of the Vatican’s Secretariat for the Economy was in the news for making a revolutionary statement that he “should have done more” about rumors of clerical abuse. He on the other hand denied that that he failed to act according to the definite knowledge of abuse. He also told that he had been put in dark by others.
