Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi would be stepping down from Vatican Radio by the end of this month after 26 years of his service as it’s director general. Though he stopped serving as the director general of Vatican Radio, he would still be the director of the Holy See Press Office.
A communiqué from the Secretariat for Communications had announced about the new decision. Along with Fr. Lombardi, Alberto Gasparri, director of administration at Vatican Radio, would also be leaving. He was coordinating the papal journeys for the past 40 years.
Monsignor Dario Edoardo Viganò, head of the Secretariat announced that positions of neither Fr. Lombardi nor Gasparri would be replaced. He had appointed Giacomo Ghisani, civil lawyer, as Vatican Radio’s “ad interim” legal representative and director of administration.
