It will indeed be a proud moment for the Catholics. The flag of the Holy See will be hoisted at the UN Headquarters for the first time in history. The news was confirmed by Vatican. The decision came after a unanimous vote by the U.N. General Assembly.
The flag will be raised on September 25th, before the arrival of Pope Francis for his address to the U.N. General Assembly. Besides the Papal flag, Palestine’s flag also will be raised on the UN headquarters. Both the nations are non-member observer states. The Palestinian flag will be raised on September 30th, after President Mahmoud Abbas’ address at UN.
