In a world that squanders millions to embellish themselves, here you have a luminous Turkish couple who has set an example for the whole world to follow. Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu and Esra Polat from Turkey chose a different way to celebrate their wedding which was held near the Syrian border last week. They invited some of those refugees who have fled the country since the civil war which began four years ago to have a share in their wedding party. And there were four thousand of them! The incident happened in the southern Turkish city of Kilis.
The original idea belongs to Ali Üzümcüoğlu, the groom’s father. He thought the wedding day of his son would be made special by sharing the joy with less fortunate ones. “We thought that on such a happy day, we would share the wedding party with our Syrian brothers and sisters. We thought this was best done with Kimse Yok Mu who could provide a truck. God willing, this will lead to others doing the same and giving food to our Syrian brothers and sisters. For us, it was an interesting wedding dinner” Ali said.
Mrs. Polat, the bride said she is overjoyed to share the meal with the needy, and that it was a wonderful experience. She said that initially she was shocked when her bridegroom disclosed the idea to her, but eventually she knew how amazing it is to see smiles on the faces of the needy, when they see charity!
