Confessors has to be channels of mercy, says Pope Francis

24-or3-2-740x493God’s mercy is encountered through the sacrament of confession, said Pope Francis to the participants of the annual conference which was sponsored by the Apostolic Penitentiary.

The Holy Father went on speaking about God’s mercy which was revealed through confession. He indicated that after receiving priest’s absolution, the sins would no longer exist. The Pontiff stressed it by saying that, “every repentant faithful has the certainty, through faith, that his sins no longer exist. They no longer exist! God is Omnipotent.”

The Pope indicated while speaking to the participants attending the conference on “internal forum,” or confession that God never remembers our sins. “Once He forgives He forgets. And this is great! The sins no longer exist, they were cancelled by divine mercy,” the Pope added. “Every absolution is,” continued the Pope, “in a certain way, a jubilee of the heart, which rejoices not only the faithful and the Church but, especially, God Himself.” Thus, he said that the confessor has to be a “channel of joy.”
