Catholic Bishop assaulted in Andhra Pradesh

A Catholic Bishop was assaulted brutally and blindfolded in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. Bishop Gallela Prasad of Cuddapah was attacked by unidentified persons while he was returning from a religious function at Karunagari.

Bishop Gallela and his car driver were brutally attacked, and blindfolded for several hours.

The incident, took place on April 25 has already created wide condemnations across the state. The apex body of Telugu Christians condemned the act calling it as a “vicious assault”.

“It is unbelievable that such a violent atrocity is perpetrated on a high ranking religious leader of a minority community,” said federation president Archbishop Thumma Bala of Hyderabad. “He is a person who is fully devoted his whole life to God and is totally dedicated to the service of the needy and marginalized,” he added
